Our 5 top tips to keep your jewellery looking its best.

#1 CORRECT STORAGE

  • Store jewellery in a clean and closed container to prevent tarnish.
  • Use soft padding or boxes to store your more delicate pieces.
  • Never store items in a humid environment. e.g. Bathrooms.

#2 AVOID CONTACT WITH CHEMICALS

  • Keep clear of any chemicals. e.g. lotions and make up. Put your jewellery on AFTER your makeup and lotions have dried.
  • Household cleaners will damage your jewellery’s finish- Remove all jewellery BEFORE you commence cleaning. Or wear gloves.
  • Remove rings while washing and sanitising hands. Also, in the bath or showering- A build up of products, will leave a soapy film on your jewellery effecting its shine.

#3 REMOVE DURING ACTIVITIES

  • Jewellery is easily damaged during gym visits and gardening, for example. Removing prior, will decrease risk of dents and scratches.
  • Removing jewellery will prevent unwanted breakages in chains and earrings caught in clothing.
  • Removing gemstones from direct sunlight will prevent colours fading and shine.

#4 INSPECT AND CLEAN REGULARLY

  • Periodically inspect your jewellery to ensure stones are secure in their serttings and no excessive wear.
  • Use a soft cloth if you notice your jewellery is becoming dull.
  • Whilst jewellery cleaners and dips are fantastic, be mindful of your gemstones. They may be porous or soft and will damage easily in abrasive chemicals.
  • If your jewellery has loose settings, your gemstones are at risk. Please get in contact with us. Our in-house jeweller and gemmologist can help.

#5 USE THE RIGHT PRODUCTS

  • We offer a great selection of cleaning products for your jewellery. Using the right product will ensure the longevity of your jewellery.
  • Always check the label on your cleaner to make sure it is suitable for your gemstones. e.g. softer stones like Pearl or Amber will be damaged, and lose lustre, in silver dip.
